Where Sandblasted Signs fit best?
Are you in a historical area or place where a wood sign or sandblasted sign fits the environment? Downtown Carlsbad leads the way. For those that remember the downtown area was not so nice 30 years ago. Building after building has undergone restoration and most have Sandblasted Signs. Oceanside, Vista San Marcos and Escondido are doing the same thing, bringing renovation and Wood Signs into these older areas. These are used for address markers, a storefront sign, monument signs and even niche specific product markers.
What are sandblasted Signs?
Sandblasting is a way of removing material. Traditionally this means Redwood, although a synthetic material HDU (High Density Urethane) and Cedar
are also used. The sand is blasted at high speed into the wood and “bites” a very small amount off. A lot of sand and time and the wood “melts” away. The areas that we don’t want cut away, we cover with a rubber sheet – the sand just bounces off these mashed areas. Wood grain comes out, small imperfections, details and a certain beatify immerges from this process. It is a classic sign making technique that communicates the old world stability, charm and warmth.
