The term Karate is and has been used to define all styles of the Martial Arts. Karate Fitness Now employs is a traditional studio with a twist. That twist includes traditional Karate with an after school program as well as Jiu Jitsu and Zumba. This may sound like a strange combination, however it all works and works well.
The traditional Karate is Goju Ryu, an Okinawan style meaning Hard-Soft style techniques. Go, refers to the hard style of closed hand or linear attacks. The Ju, refers to the circular or soft redirection of power of your opponent. This work well in controlling an opponent including locks, grappling, take-downs and throws. Hard striking attacks, such as kicks and close hand punching are effective in keeping your opponent at distance.
This style employs traditional breathing techniques during their forms (Katas). This is a style with a rich history and a strong philosophy that requires focus and concentration and it transfers to children very well and can be considered a plus in school and sports.
