There are some smart folks up at the Chamber of Commerce. They sponsored “Operation Appreciation” On Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16, 2015. They way they promoted it was in part to use a banner. Banners are quick, affordable ways to promote any event.
At Signs for San Diego, we print a lot of banners. Banners are printed on 13oz. reinforced vinyl. This is a cheaper material that what we use for permeate signage and is designed for temporary use. The material is ideal for outdoor applications where wind, rain, sun and wind expose the sign to abuse.
We use a latex ink to fix in the color. Latex is a water based system and is an environmentally responsible material. The color range is impressive and the detail can be greater than 600 dpi.
We hem every banner. There are several ways to create hems: we tape them, glue them, melt them and sew them. Having a good hem prevents fraying in the wind.
We also grommet every banner so you can hang it with a rope, a screw or other fastener.
The result is a very affordable long lasting advertisement you can get up in a day and leave up for a long time.
In most of the North County San Diego towns, banners are considered temporary signage and generally are allowed for 90 days (3 months). Many are up for much longer, but having a general theme without dates or years means you can reuse banners. It is a great idea to have a series of seasonal banners and rotate them through out the year.
For events, sponsorship is common. It is very possible to pay for the entire banner and more with 2 or 3 sponsors.
