Difference between a flag and a banner

A flag is a type of banner, A Flag is a symbol of a group. The US flag or the Amway flag, it is a representation of a group of people, or a geographic area, or a set of people sharing a commonality. If can be “flown” on a pole, it is generally flat with at least one straight edge. Many flags express an emotion or a concept well beyond the content of the flag itself.Flag in te wind, Banner

The term banner is more general. It includes flags, but can be flown on a pole, a frame, a table, or any other structure. It always has a message, but the message can be very direct, commercial and 2 dimensional. It may say “Coffee” or and other message. It is designed to quickly convey a message
